A Fish Story

Well, I have another fish story. We went out yesterday and had an incredible day. It was our last tournament fish day so we really just wanted to post a decent number to scare everybody. We did one better. We put it pretty much out of reach.

At 7 am we hooked a little sailfish and got it to the boat pretty quick. At 9am we hooked a small blue marlin and landed it an hour later. The rest of the day was filled with decent mahi catches and a lot of celebrative drinking by my crew. About 3pm I am at the helm staring out the back of the boat and there she is. A huge blue marlin fires into our bait spread. We watched her swim and slap at our baits with her bill for about a minute.

Finally it happened. We saw her head come out of the water, mouth wide open, and pectoral fins spread out like a fighter jet. She inhaled our yellow and green lure and took off. Steve grabbed the reel and hung on. 30 seconds later she knew she was hooked. About 200 yards off the portside we see her launch about 10 feet in the air. She then decided to show us a little tail walking. After her impressive aerial performance she finally decides to go deep. This is when the work begins. Steve got in the chair and settled in for a long battle.

After a quart of gatoraid, gallons of beer, a pack of smokes, and 2 hours we all got see her. We got her close enough to call it a catch and it was like she had been here before. She swam closer to the boat ready for her photo shoot. She was very patient while my crew got all the pictures we needed. We pulled the hook and released her. She did not rocket off from the boat but just slowly swam away.

My crew still thinks they beat her. I think different. She was just like any other beautiful woman. Hard to get, loves to show off to the boys, and always leaves you wanting more.

See ya

Wynn
